Order of Gawain for Ari Finason

In accordance with all that is proper, attend and bear witness that we, Kenric and Avelina, Rex and Regina Orientalis have observed with great interest the actions of Ari Finason of Endewearde.
Though a young man still, his courage on the tourney field and his confidence and grace with rapier and sword have foretold the warrior he has become. He is greater still in fairness, generousity of spirit and thoughtfulness to others. Whether lending his strength to the humblest of tasks or rising to the occasion and bringing swift aid to those in need, his kindness and amiablity are a treasure to Our kingdom.
We therefore commend him and welcome him into the Order of Gawain. In witness whereof, before all here present, do We thereby set Our signs manual to make of these letters firm and binding on this 25th day of January A.S. XVLIII at Market Day at Birka in Our Barony of Stonemarche.

Johanna Hurst, Maiden’s Heart, 2014

For Johanna Hurst. Nigel and Adrielle, &c., to Barons, &c., greeting. Know ye that whereas the eminence of numerous noblemen and the abundance of great and wise people are the principal ornament and the chiefest support of every Realm, we, at the request of the Prelates and Lords and of the Commonalty of our Realm meeting together in our present Parliament assembled at Caer Draeth, willing therefore to honour and likewise strengthen the Royal scepter by the multiplication of exalted persons, and considering the magnanimity, assiduity and prudent circumspection of our trusty and very dear Johanna Hurst, who, according to her works as head of entourage, toiling in the kitchens of the kingdom and holding the office of minister of arts and sciences has shown herself dutiful and devoted to us, by the declared counsel of our said Parliament have given to her an Award of the Maiden’s Heart. And to that end we have affixed our hand and seal at a Game of Queen’s, on the feast day of Cuthmann of Steyning, in the forty-eighth year of the society.

Gwen Hamilton, Orion, 2014

Nigel and Adrielle, by grace of the Heavens King and Queen of Ealdormere, and Earl and Countess of Arrochar, to all, Barons, &c., greeting. Among other notable affairs of the realm we consider it to be the most important that it should be fortified by a fitting distribution of orders, dignitaries and offices, supported by sound councils and powerful people. Therefore, as the realm has for a time suffered a manifold decay in names, honours and dignity of degrees, we, regarding with quiet meditation those things by which the same realm can be adorned, and turning our regards to the consideration of our beloved and trusted Gwen Hamilton, and willing that this person should be honoured, have given to her our Award of the Orion, with the common assent and counsel of the prelates, earls, barons and others of our council. Done by our hand and seal, at [EVENT NAME], on [DATE], in our [LOCAL GROUP].

Dafydd ap Sion, Pelican, 2014

Since human frailty is more inclined towards forgetfulness of good than towards longing for eternal bliss, it is necessary to make permanent in writing that which has been done in good faith. Equity requires and reason ordains that those persons virtuous be rewarded for their merits by renown and recognition. Wherefore let those here present as well as the future subjects know, that We, Nigel reiver King by divine Grace and Adrielle his devoted Queen, through consideration not only of common renown but also by the report and testimony of other nobles worthy of credence, are informed of one who has borne himself with dignity and conducted himself honourably so that he deserved well and is well worth.

He has been a steadfast and steady servant, ever willing to take to any task that might need doing and none may doubt, nor even claim with any pretence of truth, that his works have not been many, and his labors great serving Canton, Barony and Kingdom, and his efforts untiring. Be it known, therefore, to the present age and to future generations that we, aided by the advice of our right worthy Order, and assenting to their just requests on account of their memorable faithfulness and service, do hereby elevate Dafydd ap Sion to Our noble Order of the Pelican.

In recognition and thanks for noble service given and in expectation that same shall continue, We likewise give, grant, concede and confirm to the aforesaid Dafydd in perpetuity one hide of land near the bank of the Trent , so that he may be permitted to graze, prune, mow, and hunt. Moreover we have decided that he shall be permitted to come and go securely by water and by land, such that he should not pay tribute or shore-toll.

This We command to be known to all the corners of our realm, and wishing this to remain valid for all posterity, We forbid that anyone, with rash daring, infringe it or in any way attempt to violate it, and command that all are forbidden to oppose, destroy or diminish in any way this privilege which, through Our royal sanction has been granted to Dafydd ap Sion and we validly corroborate this our decree, signed by the seal of our Majesty, witnessed by those who are present at this deed on the 18th day of AS 48 at Tournoi du Coeur de Glace.

Isabel Atwyll, WAIN, 2014

Be it known that our very Sovereign Lord the King, Nigel II, and the Queen, Adrielle II, sitting in Parliament on their Royal seats, at the request of their Lords Spiritual and Temporal and of their Commons assembled in the same Parliament, created and preferred Isabel Atwyll as Companion in their Order of the Wain. This being done to recognize her service as Minister of the Lists, Seneschal, Gate Keeper and in numerous other occupations. And hereupon, after the homage done to their Majesties by the same, the said Isabel was commanded by their Majesties to sit in her seat among the Order thus given to her. This was done in the Shire of Bastille du Lac, on the feast day of Bernadette Soubirous, at the Tournoi de Coeur de Glace.

Christina Montgomery, Award of Arms, 2013

In the name of the celestial and indivisible Lady Ealdormere, Nigel and Adrielle, by favour of His Majesty’s strength of arms, august Monarchs of the Northlands. Although recognition of the worth of Our subjects may be done by others, it is, however, the duty of Our imperial authority to royally acknowledge worthy people lest there be any doubt of their value to the Crown. Be it known, therefore, to the present age and to future generations of Our subjects, that We, aided by the grace of Lady Ealdormere who scattered her secret heart among the people of the north, in the presence of many of the members of Our royal court, have called before us Christina Montgomery. This gentle is well known and loved by the people of her barony, who have sent us many missives extolling her skill in the culinary arts, her cheerful attitude and constant service. Lest these acts of honour and glory of our most beloved Christina Montgomery may in any way be diminished, We would bestow on her an Award of Arms. In order that this Our imperial decree may, for all ages, remain valid and unshaken, we have ordered the present charter to be written and to be sealed with the impress of our seal.

Done on the Feast Day of St, Andrew, in Our Canton of Bryniau Tywynnog, at Wassail, Anno Borealis forty-eight.
